Trump admin ‘uniquely dysfunctional’: Britain ambassador

Trump admin ‘uniquely dysfunctional’: Britain ambassador

Britain's ambassador to the United States described president Donald Trump's administration as "dysfunctional", "clumsy" and "inept", the Mail on Sunday newspaper reported, citing a series of confidential memos.

In memos to the British government which date from 2017 to the present, Kim Darroch said Trump "radiates insecurity" and advises officials in London that to deal with him effectively "you need to make your points simple, even blunt".
"We don't really believe this Administration is going to become substantially more normal; less dysfunctional; less unpredictable; less faction riven; less diplomatically clumsy and inept," Darroch wrote in one, according to the newspaper.
In others, the newspaper said he had described the administration as "uniquely dysfunctional" and that media reports about White House "knife fights" are "mostly true".
Darroch wrote that "we could also be at the beginning of a downward spiral, rather than just a rollercoaster: something could emerge that leads to disgrace and downfall."
But he also warned British officials not to write Trump off, saying there was a "credible path" to him winning a second term in office. He said Trump may "emerge from the flames, battered but intact, like (Arnold) Schwarzenegger in the final scenes of The Terminator."
The Foreign Office did not immediately respond to a request for comment. The Mail on Sunday cited a spokesman as saying that the public would expect diplomats "to provide ministers with an honest, unvarnished assessment of the politics in their countries".
"Their views are not necessarily the views of Ministers or indeed the Government. But we pay them to be candid," the spokesman was quoted as saying.
In a memo written last month, Darroch described confusion within the administration over Trump's decision to abort a military strike on Iran, and that the president citing the number of predicted casualties as the reason he had changed his mind "didn't stand up".
"It's more likely that he was never fully on board and that he was worried about how this apparent reversal of his 2016 campaign promises would look come 2020," Darroch wrote, adding that Trump could still trigger a conflict with Iran.
"Just one more Iranian attack somewhere in the region could trigger yet another Trump U-turn. Moreover, the loss of a single American life would probably make a critical difference."
During a state visit to Britain last month, Trump was effusive about the "special relationship" between the United States and Britain, promising a "phenomenal" trade deal after Britain leaves the European Union.

The Mail on Sunday reported that in a message sent after that visit, Darroch said that the president and his team had been "dazzled" by the visit and Britain might be "flavour of the month" but "this is still the land of America First".

"I have reportedly been married for several times. Some rumours about my marriage reach me and others don't. Most interestingly, even I do not know that I'm getting married," film actress Sadika Parvin Popy said, reacting to the buzz of her marriage.
Popy said, "There's nothing to hide about marriage. It's a big decision, a step into a new life. I will certainly inform you when I get married."
The actress admitted that she is already in a relationship but it may take time to decide about marriage.
Popy said she is married to her work.
She said that she was looking for a perfect partner, a partner who shows respect, love and care for her career and family.
"I want to make sure that I can share everything with him and depend on him. The man also has to be cultured and modern," said the actress.

Three-time national award winner actress Popy has little work to do now. She said she is very fussy about her work and does take on all the work offers that come to her. She selects work according to the demands of her fans and followers. But she assured her fans that she will soon be back with brand new performances.

Iran fumes as Britain seizes oil tanker over Syria sanctions

Iran fumes as Britain seizes oil tanker over Syria sanctions

Reuters . London/Dubai | Update:

Oil supertanker Grace 1 on suspicion of being carrying Iranian crude oil to Syria is seen near Gibraltar, Spain on 4 July. Photo: ReutersBritish Royal Marines seized a giant Iranian oil tanker in Gibraltar on Thursday for trying to take oil to Syria in violation of EU sanctions, a dramatic step that drew Tehran's fury and could escalate its confrontation with the West.
The Grace 1 tanker was impounded in the British territory on the southern tip of Spain after sailing around Africa, the long route from the Middle East to the mouth of the Mediterranean.
Iran's Foreign Ministry summoned the British ambassador to voice "it’s very strong objection to the illegal and unacceptable seizure" of its ship. The diplomatic gesture lifted any doubt over Iran's ownership of the vessel, which flies a Panama flag and is listed as managed by a company in Singapore.
Panama's Maritime Authority said on Thursday that Grace 1 was no longer listed in Panama's international boat registry as of 29 May.
US national security adviser John Bolton said the British move was "excellent news."
"America & our allies will continue to prevent regimes in Tehran & Damascus from profiting off this illicit trade," Bolton said on Twitter.
Shipping data reviewed by Reuters suggests the tanker was carrying Iranian oil loaded off the coast of Iran, although its documents say the oil is from neighbouring Iraq.
While Europe has banned oil shipments to Syria since 2011, it had never seized a tanker at sea. Unlike the United States, Europe does not have broad sanctions against Iran.
"This is the first time that the EU has done something so public and so aggressive. I imagine it was also coordinated in some manner with the US given that NATO member forces have been involved," said Matthew Oresman, a partner with law firm Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman who advises firms on sanctions.
"This is likely to have been meant as a signal to Syria and Iran - as well as the US - that Europe takes sanctions enforcement seriously and that the EU can also respond to Iranian brinkmanship related to ongoing nuclear negotiations," he said.
Authorities in Gibraltar made no reference to the source of the oil or the ownership of the ship when they seized it.
But Iran's acknowledgment that it owned the ship, and the likelihood that its cargo was also Iranian, drew a link between the incident and a new US effort to halt all global sales of Iranian crude. Iran describes that as an illegal "economic war."
European countries have so far tried to appear neutral in the escalating confrontation between Tehran and Washington, which saw the United States call off air strikes against Iran just minutes before impact last month, and Tehran amass stocks of enriched uranium banned under a 2015 nuclear deal.
The Gibraltar government said it had reasonable grounds to believe that the Grace 1 was carrying crude oil to the Baniyas refinery in Syria.
"That refinery is the property of an entity that is subject to European Union sanctions against Syria," Gibraltar chief minister Fabian Picardo said. "With my consent, our port and law enforcement agencies sought the assistance of the Royal Marines in carrying out this operation."
A spokesman for British prime minister Theresa May welcomed Gibraltar's move.
US Sanctions Tightened
Spain, which challenges British ownership of Gibraltar, said the action was prompted by a US request to Britain and appeared to have taken place in Spanish waters. Britain's Foreign Office did not respond to a request for comment.
Iran has long been supplying its allies in Syria with oil despite sanctions against Syria. What is new are US sanctions on Iran itself, imposed last year when president Donald Trump pulled out of an agreement that had guaranteed Tehran access to world trade in return for curbs on its nuclear programme.
Those US sanctions have been tightened sharply since May, effectively forcing Iran from mainstream oil markets and making it desperate for alternative customers. Iran has grown more reliant on its own tanker fleet to transport whatever oil it can sell and to store a growing stockpile of unsold output.
The US-Iranian confrontation has escalated in recent weeks, taking on a military dimension after Washington accused Tehran of attacking tankers in the Gulf and Iran shot down a US drone. Trump ordered air strikes but called them off at the last minute, later saying too many people would have died.
European countries opposed Trump's decision to exit the nuclear deal last year, and they have promised to help Iran find alternative ways to export, but with little success so far.
Iran has said it wants to keep the nuclear deal alive but must receive promised economic benefits. This week it announced it had accumulated more low-enriched uranium than the deal allows and from 7 July will refine uranium to a greater purity than permitted.
By restricting Iran's ability to move oil, US sanctions have choked off Tehran's Syrian allies, causing fuel shortages in government-controlled areas. In May, Syria received its first foreign oil for six months with the arrival of two shipments, one from Iran, a source said at the time.
Earlier this year, Reuters revealed that the Grace 1 was one of four tankers involved in shipping Iranian fuel oil to Singapore and China, violating US sanctions.
The 300,000-tonne tanker is registered as being managed by Singapore-based IShips Management Pte Ltd. Reuters was unable to establish contact with the firm for comment.
It was documented as loading fuel oil in the Iraqi port of Basra in December, though Basra did not list it as being in port and its tracking system was switched off. The tanker reappeared on tracking maps near Iran's port of Bandar Assalyeh, fully loaded.
Homayoun Falakshahi, senior analyst at London-based energy data firm Kpler, told Reuters the ship had loaded Iranian crude in mid-April from Iran's export port of Kharg Island.

A maritime intelligence source said the ship may have made the journey around Africa to avoid the Suez Canal, where such a large super-tanker would have had to unload its cargo and refill after passing through, exposing it to potential seizure.

Not a sister, Karisma in the judge's seat

Not a sister, Karisma in the judge's seat

Kareena Kapoor Khan has crossed the screen of a big screen and walked on the small screen, she is the old news. Kareena Kapoor Khan, who is sitting in the judges' Seat of the seventh edition of 'Dance India Dance', will make the show a little more illuminated, it is known to everyone. What's new The new news is that Kareena Kapoor Khan has flown in London after shooting several episodes. The judge opened the clothes and there he became the police. She is shooting in the film 'Angrezi Medium'.

Then who will judge? The judge's seat can not be left empty. There is nothing in the world of vacancy in the world. The big sister Karishma Kapoor will be seen in that place. Kareena looked impressed when her childhood or charisma danced while she danced. Seeing her sister, she loved dancing, learned dance. So no one else is more worthy to wear in Curina's chair than charisma. So, as long as Kareena shoots in London, who is the dance of whom?

This is just a couple of days before the two sisters in Milan, with their children in London. Then they puffed up the mind in their work. But shooting of several episodes of the 'Dance India Dance' ceremony, Karin flew in London. According to a report from Bollywood Hungama, from there, Karin has said that she is excited about the big sister sitting in the judge's seat.

He is very happy to see Karishma Kapoor acting as a judge in his seat. More than once, Kareena shares her success with big sisters He said, when Karishma danced when she was in her childhood, she would be impressed by seeing her and she would look and feel. In this way, his love for the dance was born in him. Only then did he learn dance.

Kareena also said, Kirsty is the source of her confidence, the closest friend and the ideal of life. Curisimai 'Perfect' so to sit on the chair.

However, from the shooting of 'Dance India Dance', Karisma has shared three pictures in her Instagram. In the caption he wrote, "Look at me, from the shooting of Dance India Dance. I am going to sit in the seat of my gorgeous sister. "And in the third movie, Dazzle on the stage of the charisma celebrations. Karishma wrote in her caption, "Come on, everyone rides."

Beautiful pictures of charisma fans. They wrote in the comment, 'Great on one hand.' One has again thanked Curishama and wrote that, through the inspiration of Curisma, he started taking care of the body. Many people asked, when will this episode be seen. In total, the two sisters will raise the shore temperature and TRP mercury.

However, Kareena is now one of the busiest stars in Bollywood. In contrast to Akshay Kumar's 'Good News' photo, he has finished the film 'Angrezi Medium'. It will start with the work of Alia Bhat, Ranbir Singh, Jahnabi Kapoor, Land Pedekarak, Takhat with photo of Vicky Techniques. And with all these things are the biggest thing. That big job is small Nawab Taimur Ali Khan. Kareena ten as the mother, who does not know!

Tehran summons British ambassador to Iran Tehran took the measure after a Iranian oil vessel was arrested in Gibraltar on Thursday.

The BBC report said the British authorities detained the ship, which was crude oiled in the Gibraltar process, in the morning. UK complains that Iran's oil carrier was heading towards Syria due to violation of the European Union (EU) sanctions. Iran denies the accusation, saying the United Kingdom has illegally seized their oil vessels.

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Abbas Mousavi said that the Iranian oil ship was illegally detained by the BBC. So Britain's ambassador to Iran, Robert MacAir, has been summoned.

The BBC report also said that a group of 30 Navyans from the United Kingdom went to the scene to assist the administration of Gibraltar. The army started the operation without firing or any major disaster.

Meanwhile, the Foreign Minister of Spain said, "We requested the US government to arrest the Grace-1 ship."

The BBC's diplomat reporter Jonathan Marx says that the detention of the ship does not mean that the United Kingdom has banned Iran. Rather, the British government makes the EU sanctions more effective against Syria through this arrest.

Dutch great Robben retires from football

Dutch great Robben retires from football

Dutch winger Arjen Robben has announced he is ending his playing career at the age of 35 after a 10-year spell with German giants Bayern Munich.

"It is without a doubt the most difficult decision I have had to make in my career, my heart says yes, my body says no," Robben told the Telegraaf.
His contract at Bayern had expired on June 30.
Robben played 96 international matches for the Netherlands, scoring 37 goals, starring in the team which reached the 2010 World Cup final and finished third four years later.
He won two Premier League titles under Jose Mourinho at Chelsea in 2005 and 2006, before claiming a La Liga winner's medal with Real Madrid.
But Robben, a Groningen youth product, will be best remembered for his time at Bayern. He helped the Bavarians to eight Bundesliga crowns, five German Cups and the 2013 Champions League title, scoring 144 goals in 309 appearances for the club.

There had been speculation Robben would continue playing, with a possible return to England mooted, but instead he has decided to hang up his boots.
Robben had already retired from international football after the Netherlands failed to qualify for the 2018 World Cup.

North Korea upbeat on Trump-Kim surprise meeting

North Korea upbeat on Trump-Kim surprise meeting

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un and US president Donald Trump agreed at their meeting on Sunday to push forward dialogue for making a new breakthrough in the denuclearisation of the Korean peninsula, North Korean state media said on Monday.

Trump became the first sitting US president to set foot in North Korea on Sunday when he met Kim in the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) between the two Koreas and agreed to resume stalled nuclear talks.
"The top leaders of the two countries agreed to keep in close touch in the future, too, and resume and push forward productive dialogues for making a new breakthrough in the denuclearisation of the Korean peninsula and in the bilateral relations," KCNA news agency said.
The meeting, initiated by a tweet by Trump that Kim said took him by surprise, displayed the rapport between the two, but analysts said they were no closer to narrowing the gap between their positions since they walked away from their summit in February in Vietnam.
US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo told reporters shortly before departing South Korea that a new round of talks would likely happen "sometime in July" and the North's negotiators would be foreign ministry diplomats.
In a photo released by KCNA on Monday, North Korean Foreign Minister Ri Yong Ho and Pompeo are shown sitting next to Kim and Trump respectively in Freedom House, the building in which the two leaders had their one-on-one talks.
KCNA said that during the chat between Trump and Kim, the two leaders explained "issues of easing tensions on the Korean peninsula," "issues of mutual concern and interest which become a stumbling block in solving those issues," and "voiced full understanding and sympathy."
Kim said it was the good personal relationship he had with Trump that made such a dramatic meeting possible at just one day's notice and that the relationship with Trump would continue to produce good results, according to KCNA.
The two leaders' "bold, brave decision" that led to the historic meeting "created unprecedented trust between the two countries" that had been tangled in deeply rooted animosity, KCNA said.
UN secretary-general Antonio Guterres welcomed the meeting between Trump and Kim and “fully supports the continued efforts of the parties to establish new relations towards sustainable peace, security and complete and verifiable denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula,” UN spokesman Stephane Dujarric said in a statement.
"The fact that the nuclear talks have jump-started is very encouraging, but that doesn't mean that the two sides have already adjusted their positions and set the conditions for successful working-level negotiations," said Kim Hyun-wook, a professor at the Korea National Diplomatic Academy.
